Scope

  • Comprehensive renovation of Charlotte’s Science Museum, built in 1986, with IMAX® Dome Theater, built in 1991

  • Included updating all exhibit space finishes and mechanical systems, while keeping the Living Rain Forest Exhibit intact

  • Added connecting mezzanines and created a centralized entry and grand entry marquee

Challenges

  • Accelerated schedule with two shifts and phasing the project to limit the amount of disruption to the museum so it could remain open on a limited basis throughout construction
