Rodgers’ project receives ASHE 2016 Vista Award

03/25/2016

The American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE) presented the 2016 Vista Infrastructure Award to Carolinas HealthCare System Pineville in recognition of the hospital’s Central Energy Plant. Rodgers, who served as Construction Manager for the project, enjoyed collaborating and working with such a talented team including RDK Engineers, Wright McGraw Beyer Architects, PA, ColeJenest & Stone, PA and Win-Sam, Inc.

The Infrastructure Award honors projects that replace major portions of a facility’s utility generation, distribution or control systems. Over the last 10 years, Carolinas HealthCare System Pineville has expanded to accommodate the community’s rapid growth. The new 22,000-square-foot energy plant provides much needed support for the current 700,000-square-foot hospital and allows for future expansion without interrupting service, which is critical for providing quality care.

The plant was designed with the capability to be operated and managed remotely and has resulted in significant energy savings. With N+1 redundant systems, the plant is extremely resilient to severe weather or other catastrophes, creating an optimal healthcare environment.
