04/03/2012

On March 22, Rodgers project team members celebrated Nash Health Care’s new Heart Center and Emergency Department with a groundbreaking ceremony. Hospital staff, along with members of the Nash Health Care Board of Commissioners and Wilkerson Associates Architects, also attended the event.

The Emergency Department, which will serve 80-90,000 patients per year, will occupy the entire first floor of the 115,500-square-foot building. There will be a total of 54 treatment areas along with a separate entrance, waiting room, triage and service areas for the Pediatric Emergency Care Center.

The Heart Center will occupy the second and third levels of the building. Inside, there will be eight critical care units, 12 pre/post procedure rooms, 12 patient observation rooms, diagnostic areas, plus invasive cardiology and catheterization labs.

The hospital, which is located in Rocky Mount, N.C., anticipates completion of the state-of-the-art facility by the end of 2013.
