Winthrop University Sims Science Building and Dalton Hall

Scope

  • Sims Hall is 57,696 SF and houses Geology, Physics and Chemistry programs, and Dalton Hall is 65,417 SF and includes Biology, and Human Nutrition programs.

Given the nature of these two academic buildings and their importance to academic programming and ongoing research, these projects were completed in tandem to one another and while the buildings were occupied.

Highlights

  • This project modernized chemistry lab spaces and lobbies, overhauled the HVAC and lab control systems, and kept the buildings occupied. This renovation helped create a more efficient and modern learning environment for Winthrop’s students and faculty.

Taxidermy Museum: The second floor of Dalton Hall houses a unique taxidermy museum, where the team had the opportunity to meet Alfred, a taxidermy baboon.
