U.S. National Whitewater Center Outdoor Recreational Center and Whitewater Park

Scope

  • Construction of a unique outdoor recreational center and whitewater park located within a 300+/- acre property with a man-made, re-circulating, multi-channel whitewater course

  • Two six-foot-deep whitewater channels (four segments) made of cast-in-place concrete with 2:1 slopes

  • The average width of the channels is 35 feet, and they hold 14 million gallons of water

  • Nine stand-alone concrete, steel and wood buildings

Highlights

  • Eleven miles of mountain-biking trails, a climbing center, walking/running trails, plus a conference/welcome center, retail store, and a restaurant (The Eddy)

  • Inspired by whitewater courses built for the Olympics, such as Penrith Whitewater Stadium in Australia

  • First facility of its kind in the United States; ranks largest in the world
