Scope
Project scope includes the demolition of existing walls and finishes, reworking of new bathrooms, concrete fill over monumental stairs to provide a new reception area, all new finishes, lab casework, glass storefront systems, operable partitions to provide flexible use of space, new plumbing and electrical fixtures and rework of MEP systems to accommodate the new layout
Highlights
The education studio contains classrooms, wet and dry labs, shop class, workshop areas, resource facilities, genius gallery and office space
The area provides Discovery Place with a facility to perform training programs for educators in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math)
The new space is tied into the Discovery Place Museum in the adjacent block, by running technology through an underground trench between both buildings
