In February 1998, Rodgers Builders began renovation and restoration of the former Montaldo's department store building located in downtown Charlotte. The 82,000 square-foot historic structure now houses the Mint Museum of Craft + Design. The $7 million project includes 6,000 square foot of exhibit space; 26,000 square foot of commercial rental space; and 40,000 square foot of space for museum offices, gift shop, storage space and workshops. The top floor includes a special event pavilion, conference room and a spacious rooftop terrace.
