The project consists of a multi-phased, 450-acre botanical garden in Belmont, North Carolina. Phase I of the five-phased, 20-year project includes the development of approximately 106 acres. Phase I was completed in Fall 1999, with garden attractions including: a 27,000 square-foot Visitor Pavilion, the Cottage Garden, Four Seasons Garden, Canal Garden, Perennial Garden, Growing Center, greenhouse and utilities buildings. The Stowe Botanical Garden will be a major source of pride for Gaston County as well as a regional attraction for the Southeast. Total project investment is projected to reach $14.7 million.
