The project scope included the complete demolition and upfit of the former Kale Lawing office building located at 217 South Tryon Street in Charlotte. The new facility was constructed for Foundation for the Carolinas, a philanthropic organization that serves donors, communities and a broad range of charitable purposes in North and South Carolina.
The Foundation is one of the largest community foundations in the South and among the top 30 in America. The 24,000-square-foot upfit involved work on three floors of the building with very limited access to the facility by way of the rear loading dock and front door located on South Tryon Street, Charlotte's busiest street in the downtown district. New features include all new plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and fire protection systems, a new roof system and two new elevators. Interior spaces in the new headquarters include conference space, offices, and common areas.
