Project scope includes a $80 million campus expansion and upgrade to the Palmetto Health Richland hospital campus. Project components include a 4-story, cast-inplace, post-tension concrete parking deck. The $10.4 million deck is 270,460 square feet and includes 741 parking spaces. On top of the parking deck is a 2-story, steel-frame Heart & Vascular Hospital. The $52.3 million hospital includes 124 beds and 16 recovery beds along with Cardiovascular Surgery, Cath Labs, Cardiovascular ICU Unit, Coronary Care Unit, Cardiac Diagnostics and Surgical Cardiology Inpatient Units. Total square footage for the new hospital is 147,752.

The third component of the expansion and upgrade includes a new 5,250 square-foot Central Energy Plant. The $4.6 million facility includes new chillers, generators, boilers and electrical switch gear. Additionally, the fourth component includes a new 4,820 square-foot Welcome Center/Atrium links the activities of the new Heart Hospital, Parking Deck and Medical Office Building through a very open and inviting glass-enclosed space.

Finally, the project included a 4-level, steel-frame Medical Office Building. The 90,000 square-foot facility incorporates precast and curtainwall veneer materials and contains space for a Cath Lab and MRI on the first level. In addition to the construction of the building shell and core space areas, Rodgers also upfitted approximately 75% of the building. Total construction duration was 12 months. Total construction costs were approximately $12.7 million.
