Construction Management, Preconstruction
In November 1991, Rodgers was awarded a managing contractor agreement to assist in the development of a new $51.5 million replacement hospital on an 80-acre campus, consolidating the old Alamance County Hospital and Memorial Hospital. Construction began in September 1992 on the 238-bed, 347,362 square-foot facility and was completed in July of 1995.
The building is designed as a medical mall, with medical offices at one end of the main complex joined by multilevel glass pedestrian bridge connectors and patient towers at the opposite end. Outpatient services are located off a 30-foot-wide corridor, with this area easily recognized by the wave-shaped, glass roofline sliding through the center axis of the main hospital complex.
