The $40 million, multi-phase modernization of Palmetto Health Baptist included 30,000 square feet of new construction and 100,000 square feet of renovations. Improvements and upgrades focused heavily on surgical, obstetrical and neonatal areas within the hospital.
Rodgers Builders arrived on the hospital campus in November 2006 and immediately began sitework for the four-story addition located at the corner of Sumter and Hampton Streets. The addition, which was completed within two years, contains Operating Pod 4, state-of-the-art NICUs, administration space and a mechanical room.
Palmetto Health Baptist was the first hospital in South Carolina to offer private NICU rooms to families with newborn babies who are ill or need special care. The NICU suite renovation was one of many projects within the five phases of additions and renovations overseen by Rodgers Builders.
Renovation projects completed in 2010 included:
• Three Operating Pods
• Pre-Anesthesia Testing (PAT)
• Patient Rooms
• Labor Delivery/C-Section Rooms/Nursery
• Nursing Stations
• Triage
• PACU
