General Contracting, Preconstruction
The project scope includes the preconstruction and construction of a single-story, steel-frame library/museum that is dedicated to the life and teachings of Reverend Billy Graham. The 40,000-square-foot facility, which resembles a barn with stand-alone silo, is situated on several acres within the existing campus of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Headquarters in southwest Charlotte.
The Billy Graham Library includes ten multi-media exhibition spaces, the bookstore; Ruth's Attic, "a cafe" with seating area, archive room, two theaters, four galleries, offices, customized restrooms, and storage space. There are two sharp distinctions with the use of wood-rich red-brown hues of cedar cover the exterior and warm tones of pine fill the interior space.
Adjacent to the library facility is the Homeplace, which is a restoration of the Graham family's house that was original built around 1927. It is a 2,000-square-foot, colonial-style, two-level, brick structure, decorated with antique furnishings (originals and replicas) arranged to replicate Billy Graham's childhood home. ITEC Productions was the project's lead designer. They are best-known for creating entertainment centers and themed environments at destinations such as Disney Parks, Epcot, SeaWorld, Universal Studios, and The Holy Land Experience.
