The new facility for The Mint Museums will encompass approximately 145,000 square feet and will host major traveling exhibitions including some that existing Mint Museum facilities in Charlotte do not support. Upon completion, the new Mint Museum will become the 35th largest accredited museum ranked by the Association of Art Museum Directors in the nation. The project upfit scope includes 6 levels with 8 interior escalators and decorative railings. Decorative wood ceilings rise 80 feet above the floor at the Grand Room entrance. The project designer is Machado & Silvetti Associates of Boston, Massachusetts.
