Carolinas HealthCare System has added a new healthcare facility in Cabarrus County: CMC-Kannapolis. Rodgers built the 26,000-square-foot healthcare pavilion and 24-hour emergency department.
Inside the single-story building there are 10 treatment rooms and two observation beds adjacent to the central nurses station. There are laboratory services on the premises and an area for diagnostic imaging that includes x-rays, CT scans, and ultrasounds. Since CMC-Kannapolis does not have an MRI machine, a pad was constructed as a set-up area for a mobile MRI.
Interior details include a high clerestory, quartz and resin countertops, aluminum drywall reveals, and indirect lighted soffits in the lobby. Exterior finishes are brick veneer and GFRC (glass fiber reinforced concrete) for the columns and cornice. There is a canopied front entrance and a dedicated side entrance for medic and ambulances; a bioretention pond; and a mechanical yard with a transformer, generator, and fuel tank.
