In an effort to help feed the hungry, Rodgers Builders’ employees participated in Canstruction®, a national design/build competition led by architects, builders and engineers, which challenges teams of volunteers to create unique sculptures out of canned foods.
The Charlotte event was held at ImaginOn: The Joe and Joan Martin Center, the award-winning, LEED® certified facility that RodgersHardin completed in June 2005. Rodgers Builders competed against five Charlotte-based architectural firms and won the People’s Choice Award and an Honorable Mention for their sculpture Bulldozing Hunger.
Rodgers Builders purchased over 6,000 food items to build the eight-foot bulldozer. All canned food items were later donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.
Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Rodgers Builders, Inc. offers full-service preconstruction and construction services for healthcare, commercial, education, senior living and cultural market sectors.
