Rodgers Builders, Inc. was awarded the contract to build the State of North Carolina’s new data center located in Rutherford County. Recently, over 200 guests gathered onsite as Governor Mike Easley participated in the groundbreaking ceremony. The governor, along with Representative Bobby England, State Senator Walter Dalton, George Bakolia (State Chief Information Officer), Chuck Hill (County Commission Chairman), and Tom Johnson (Rutherford County Economic Developer) spoke about the positive impact this project will have on Rutherford County.
The 53,000-square-foot data center will protect state government data in the event of a natural disaster or a threat to homeland security. The facility will boost the economic development of Rutherford County and provide approximately 50 new jobs. Rodgers Builders anticipates the data center will be complete in January 2008.
