In 1963, registered professional engineer and entrepreneur B.D. Rodgers was 39 years old when he left a healthcare architectural firm to strike out on his own and start a construction company with one truck, a superintendent and $5,000 borrowed from his life insurance policy. Basing his career on a foundation of integrity and enduring quality, Rodgers will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2013 and is one of the nation’s most respected general contractors.

While Rodgers takes pride in its company’s exemplary reputation, Rodgers attributes the firm’s continuing success to the company’s leadership and the firm's success in recruiting and retaining a talented and experienced team. Over the years, Rodgers has received many accolades, including multiple Pinnacle Awards from the Carolinas AGC and the Pinnacle Achievement Award for General Contractor of the Year.

Native Charlottean and Professional Engineer, B. D. Rodgers, establishes Rodgers Builders. More Rodgers completes construction of its current corporate headquarters facility in Charlotte, NC. More Rodgers Builders surpasses $1 million in annual revenues. More Rodgers Builders purchases Mid-Atlantic Construction Company, Inc. as a subsidiary. Mid-Atlantic Construction is a full-service concrete forming contractor serving the Southeast. More Rodgers Builders is awarded its first ground-up comprehensive hospital — Mercy Hospital (South) in Pineville, NC. The 200,000 sf facility firmly established Rodgers as a major healthcare contractor in the Carolinas region. More Rodgers is awarded one of the region’s first full-service Continuing Care Retirement Community – The Pines at Davidson. Since its completion in 1988, Rodgers has specialized in Senior Living construction with the successful completion of six additional $50+ million CCRCs in the Carolinas. More Patricia Rodgers is named President & CEO of Rodgers Builders, Inc. More Rodgers Builders surpasses $50 million in annual revenues. More Rodgers Builders completes an 8,000 cy monolithic concrete mat foundation placement in 22 hours for Gaston Memorial Hospital. At that time, the pour was the largest in NC/SC history. Also in 1998, Rodgers Builders exceeds $100 million in annual revenues. More Rodgers Builders exceeds $100 million in annual revenues. More Rodgers Builders is awarded Gateway Village with Bank of America and Cousins Properties. The $142 million, 3 building development featuring Bank of America’s National Product Development and Technology Center, was the centerpiece of the 1.1 million sf development. More Rodgers is ranked 5th among the top national healthcare general contractors by Modern Healthcare Magazine. More Rodgers Builders opens its first regional office in Greenville, SC. More Patricia Rodgers, President & CEO is named Charlotte "Business Person of the Year" by Charlotte Business Journal. More Carolinas AGC named Rodgers Builders "the Best of the Best in the Carolinas Construction Industry" by presenting the company with the prestigious 2007 Pinnacle Award for Best General Contractor in the Carolinas. More Rodgers Builders opens a new office in Center City Charlotte. The 6,300-square-foot, two and one-half-story, renovated building is located at the corner of West Trade and N. Pine Streets. Inside there are 18 workstations, 2 conference rooms, lobby, kitchen, and a rooftop terrace. More Rodgers Builders, Inc. ranked #14 (up from #21) among the Top 100 North Carolina private companies, according to Business North Carolina's report. The ranking is based on 2007 revenue of 60-500+ million. More Rodgers Builders opens a new office in Raleigh, North Carolina. Located on the first floor of a five-story building on Glenwood Avenue, the 3,500-square-foot space has 15 offices for Rodgers’ associates. More On January 28, 2010, B. D. Rodgers was presented the 2009 Distinguished Engineering Alumnus award from the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University. More Rodgers Builders unveils a new brand identity, which simplifies the company name to Rodgers and introduces a new logo with a bold, progressive quality that signifies future growth. More In 2011, Rodgers integrated its concrete subsidiary, Mid-Atlantic Construction, into the company’s operations unit to offer its clients total concrete package solutions. More Rodgers ranked third among Charlotte-area general contractors on the list of the top 25 general contractors, ranked by 2011 local billings, as published in the April 20, 2012, issue of the "Charlotte Business Journal." More With gross billings of more than $289 million in 2011, Rodgers ranked sixth on the Top 10 Largest General Contractors list, published by the "Triangle Business Journal" in its June 25, 2012, issue.
